Stock Index Weekly Market Type Analysis 30 August 2015

Each week I review the current market type and fundamental considerations on a variety of stock and commodity indices. Market type analysis is critical to trade planning.

MT = Market Type ( See lesson 8 in the Share Investing Course for Smart People)

  • US Dow Jones – MT is sideways volatile. Bullish pin candle off support suggests buying may be appropriate but not a low-risk trade so may be best to stay out unless you can operate off a short-term time frame.  Otherwise a small position with a target at the high of the range would be an appropriate strategy.
  • US S&P 500 – MT is sideways volatile. Per Dow Jones above.
  • US Nasdaq – MT is sideways volatile. Per Dow Jones above.
  • US Russell 2000 – MT is sideways volatile. Wait for now.
  • UK 100 – MT is MT is sideways volatile. Technically one of the better risk reward opportunities for a buy with a target at the top of the range.
  • Europe  50 – MT is bear volatile. Wait for now.
  • Germany 30 – MT is bear volatile. Wait for now.
  • France 40 – MT is sideways volatile. A pin candle off support suggests buying with a target at the top of the range.

  • Singapore 30 – MT is bear volatile. Wait for now.
  • Australia 200 – MT is bear volatile. Wait for now.
  • Gold – MT is bear volatile. Wait for now.
  • Gold vs EURO – MT is bear normal. Continue short.
  • Silver – MT is bear volatile. Wait for now.
  • Silver vs EURO – MT is bear normal. Continue short.
  • Copper – MT is bear normal. Continue short.
  • Brent Oil – MT is bear normal. Bullish engulfing off major support suggest price is bottoming. Take profit, tighten stops. Aggressive traders can initiate new longs though the price will likely become range bound.
  • WTI Oil – MT is bear normal. Per Brent oil above.
  • US 30 year Bonds – MT is bull volatile. But a major bearish engulfing week suggests we may see a double top here. This is a short for aggressive contrarians otherwise the dip can be brought.
  • US 10 year Bonds – MT is sideways volatile. Wait
  • German 10 year Bonds – MT is sideways volatile. Wait
  • UK 10 year Bonds – MT is bear volatile. Wait for now.
  • Corn – MT is sideways volatile. Wait.
  • Natural Gas – MT is sideways normal. Wait.
