Stock Index and Commodity Weekly Market Type Analysis 22/03/2015 by Sam Eder

Each week I review the current market type and fundamental considerations on a variety of stock and commodity indices. Market type analysis is critical to trade planning.  

MT = Market Type ( See lesson 8 in the Share Investing Course for Smart People)

  • US Dow Jones – MT is sideways normal. Look for range trading opportunities. Prefer bullish trades. Fundamental catalyst this week on US markets is Yellen removing the word “patience” while still coming across dovish.
  • US S&P 500 – MT is sideways normal. Look for range trading opportunities. Prefer bullish trades.
  • US Nasdaq – MT is bull normal. Recovering from a pull-back. Look to buy.
  • US Russell 2000 – MT is bull normal. Look to buy.
  • UK 100 – MT is longer-term sideways. breaking out to a new high. Look to buy.
  • Europe  50 – MT is bull normal. Look to buy.
  • Germany 30 – MT is strong bull. Look to buy.
  • France 40 – MT is bull normal. Look to buy. Be careful. Fundamentally bearish on France. 
  • Italy 40 – MT is bull normal. Look to buy.
  • Spain 35 – MT is strong bull. Breaking out to a new high from a longer-term sideways market type. 
  • Swiss 20 –  MT is strong bull. Keep buying.
  • Netherlands 25 – MT is bull normal. Keep buying.
  • Japan 225 – MT is bull normal. Look to buy.
  • Honk Kong 33 – MT is sideways. Prefer to wait. 
  • Singapore 30 – MT is sideways. Again, prefer to wait.  
  • Australia 200 – MT is bull normal. Careful of a sideways market type forming.
  • Gold – MT is bear normal. Short-term showing strength and near bottom of range so stay out.
  • Gold vs EURO – MT is sideways Normal.
  • Silver – MT is possibly turning bull.
  • Silver vs EURO – MT is strong bull breaking out of a range.
  • Copper – MT is strong bull. Breaking out to new high. Careful longer-term market type is bear.
  • Brent Oil – MT is bear normal, possibly turning sideways. 
  • WTI Oil – MT is bear normal, but longer-term is sideways. Possible buying opportunity off support.
  • US 30 year Bonds – MT is strong bull.
  • US 10 year Bonds – MT is sideways but near top and looks bullish.
  • German 10 year Bonds – MT is bull normal.
  • UK 10 year Bonds – MT is bull normal.
